After the three-point loss to Iowa State last week, where should Texas football focus most on their preparation for this weekend’s matchup vs. K-State?

Most of the news coming out of the Texas football program this week is taking a lot of the focus away from the looming road showdown against head coach Chris Klieman and the slipping Kansas State Wildcats. Texas is not in a great spot heading into this Kansas State game, with kick off set for Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. CT in Manhattan.

Hopefully fourth-year head coach Tom Herman continues his success against the stingy Wildcats. Manhattan is one of the least friendly places for the Longhorns in the last two decades. But Texas did break a lengthy losing streak to Kansas State on the road in the “Little Apple” when they knocked off the Wildcats back in 2018.

But that 2018 win over Kansas State was anything but convincing. That could’ve gone either way. The same could be said for Herman’s two home wins over Kansas State since he took over as Texas head coach entering the 2017 season. Nonetheless, it is good to know that Herman is a perfect 3-0 against the Wildcats as the Longhorns head coach.

Texas is coming off a tough 23-20 loss from last week, on Black Friday/Senior Day, to the No. 13 ranked Iowa State Cyclones. That moved their record on the season to 5-3 (4-3 Big 12), and their hopes to get a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game are effectively dashed at this point in time.

Meanwhile, Kansas State is slipping even further than Texas of late. Kansas State is currently riding a four-game losing streak. Last week they fell short to the Baylor Bears by just a one-point margin. They now hold a record of 4-5 (4-4 Big 12) following their tough loss to Baylor.

But you should never sleep on Kansas State, especially in a spot like this. Here’s a look at three potentially problematic Kansas State players for the Longhorns this weekend.
