How to watch Texas football vs. K-State: TV, stream, game time, and pick
A game that might not have a whole lot of say in what happens with Texas football head coach Tom Herman awaits on the morning of Dec. 5.
What was originally supposed to be the regular season finale for the Texas football program has arrived on Dec. 5 against the Kansas State Wildcats and head coach Chris Klieman. Fourth-year Texas head coach Tom Herman leads his team into a stretch of games against the Kansas schools. It starts with Kansas State on the road on Dec. 5, and then rounds out on Dec. 12 on the road in Lawrence against the Kansas Jayhawks.
The game against Kansas was originally set to take place on Nov. 21, but was pushed back to Dec. 12 due to novel coronavirus related issues.
Texas and Kansas State are both slipping in their own ways coming into this game. Kansas State is riding a four-game losing streak, after they were one of the Big 12 favorites early in the regular season. Kansas State’s last game saw them fall short in agonizing fashion by a one-point margin to the Baylor Bears.
Meanwhile, Texas is coming off a loss to head coach Matt Campbell and the No. 13 ranked Iowa State Cyclones on Black Friday/Senior Day by the final score of 23-20. That loss moved Texas to a record of 5-3 (4-3 Big 12) on the season. It also snapped a three-game winning streak the Longhorns had built up since an Oct. 24 home triumph over Baylor.
Entering this game, Texas is favored by a one-touchdown margin and the over/under is set at 51 points. The ESPN Football Power Index does give the Longhorns a 76.7 percent chance to beat Kansas State.
Here’s a look at the live stream, kick off time, pick for the game, and more as Texas takes on Kansas State on the road on Dec. 5.

Injured Texas football players
The defensive backfield is set to be the area where the Longhorns will suffer the biggest depth hit this weekend. Junior safety Caden Sterns already opted out of the rest of the season, as did redshirt junior offensive tackle Sam Cosmi and junior running back Keaontay Ingram. But the Longhorns are also reportedly set to miss both junior defensive back B.J. Foster and junior cornerback Jalen Green with various injuries against Kansas State.
Missing the likes of Sterns, Green, and Foster, all in the same week is going to be a real challenge for Herman and first-year defensive coordinator/safeties coach Chris Ash.
With Sterns opting out earlier in the week, it was expected that Foster could compete for a starting spot at safety against the Wildcats. But Texas will have to find an answer elsewhere to round out their secondary this weekend.
And missing Ingram shouldn’t mean too much in the immediate future, since he missed the last couple of games with a lower-body injury. But it will increase the workload of freshman running back Bijan Robinson and sophomore Roschon Johnson for the rest of the season.
Picking Texas football vs. K-State
Kansas State owns a record of 4-5 (4-4 Big 12) coming into this game. Even though Kansas State is riding a four-game losing streak heading into this game, they shouldn’t ever be underestimated by the Longhorns, especially when playing them in Manhattan.
Still, senior star quarterback Sam Ehlinger is likely going to come out with his best effort with less pressure on his shoulders in this spot. He and Herman don’t have that many games remaining together, so Ehlinger will probably make the best of it.
