3) 2021 prospects Texas football will whiff on

An area where the Longhorns 2021 recruiting class could really use some help is along the offensive line. Texas is likely about to lose the likes of the standout redshirt junior offensive tackle Sam Cosmi and the versatile senior offensive guard/center Derek Kerstetter next year due to lack of eligibility or early declarations for the 2021 NFL Draft.

With that in mind, it would be really nice if Herman and offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand could get more depth in the trenches for this recruiting cycle. At the moment, Texas has just one blue chip offensive lineman commit in their 2021 class. That might not cut it over the long haul.

One particular target that Texas might be able to make some late headway with, but it’s not very likely, is the highly coveted four-star Katy-Taylor offensive guard Bryce Foster. This standout 6-foot-5 and 330 pound offensive guard holds offers from just shy of two dozen schools, and the usual Texas rivals on the recruiting trail seem to be in the mix.

As of the late afternoon of Dec. 8, Foster is trending to land with the Sooners over head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies, per the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions. He has a decision date set for Dec. 18, during the Early Signing Period.

Outside of the aforementioned offers that Foster holds so far, the other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the LSU Tigers, Oregon Ducks, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Stanford Cardinal, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Foster ranks as the nation’s No. 72 2021 high school prospect, No. 4 offensive guard, and No. 12 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 112 high school prospect, No. 6 offensive guard, and No. 19 prospect out of Texas.
