Texas Football: Predicting 2021 commits before Early Signing Period

The 2021 Texas football recruiting class is about to have a huge event on this cycle’s timeline with the Early Signing Period beginning on Dec. 16.

A lot of the news of late on the trail for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class and fourth-year head coach Tom Herman was not too great. Texas can’t seem to have much go their way on the recruiting trail of late, which definitely doesn’t bode well for Herman and his staff just a couple of days out from the start of the Early Signing Period.

The Early Signing Period during this topsy turvy recruiting cycle in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic begins on Dec. 16 and will round out a really weird one for Herman and the Longhorns. Texas had a very promising 2021 class at one point, but it started to fall apart (as did their 2022 recruiting class) this fall.

A once promising 2020 college football season on the Forty Acres has turned into a drama-filled one that was insanely inconsistent both on the field and on the recruiting trail. Herman hit the hot seat in a big way, even though it appears he’ll be back for the Longhorns in 2021.

Nonetheless, there is still time for Herman and his staff to get things straight before this 2021 class is officially rounded out on National Signing Day come next February. The Early Signing Period is likely when most prospects will sign their National Letter of Intent, so the next couple of days will be huge for the Longhorns.
