2) Predicting Texas football commits ahead of ESP

One of the newer potential commitments to the party for the Longhorns is a three-star defensive lineman hailing out of Louisiana that has largely flown under the radar for a long time. The sizable 6-foot-3 and 250 pound Holy Cross strong-side defensive end Barryn Sorrell didn’t receive his Texas scholarship offer all that long ago.

Sorrell just received his Texas offer back on Nov. 7, 2020, making him one of the most recent offers to get sent out from this program during this recruiting cycle. He also holds offers from 20 other schools, a lot of which started targeting him within the last six or eight months.

Other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Louisville Cardinals, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Arizona State Sun Devils, Vanderbilt Commodores, Virginia Cavaliers, Baylor Bears, Indiana Hoosiers, Memphis Tigers, Mizzou Tigers, Purdue Boilermakers, and Washington State Cougars.

Sorrell is a former commit of the Northwestern Wildcats, so it sounds like he’s looking a lot more regional for his next choice of landing spot at this point. He decommitted from Northwestern back on Oct. 23, and has a set decision date for Dec. 16, the first day of the Early Signing Period.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are now favoring Sorrell to land with the Longhorns over the rest of the field.

Moreover, Sorrell ranks as the nation’s No. 834 2021 high school prospect, No. 54 strong-side defensive end, and No. 22 prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 57 strong-side defensive end and No. 27 prospect out of Louisiana.
