Texas Football: 3 must have 2021 commits ahead of Early Signing Period
1) Must have 2021 Texas football commits before ESP
Hitting the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex hard (in a good way) had to be a goal for Herman and his staff for the last couple of recruiting cycles. And they did well for a while in the DFW Metroplex, especially by landing commitments from the Denton-Ryan athletes Bowman Jr. and Sanders. But only one of those Denton-Ryan commits remain in the 2021 class.
Where Herman and offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand can turn their attention to next in the DFW Metroplex is with the rising four-star Parish Episcopal School offensive tackle Austin Uke. Texas is one of the newest suitors to the party to try and win over the interests of Uke. He just received his Texas scholarship offer back on Dec. 11.
While Texas could still pry some interest from Uke away from the current leader (looking to be SMU at the moment), they look to have an uphill battle on their hands. The expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are giving a firm lead to SMU to land the commitment of Uke over Texas and the rest of the field.
Moreover, Uke ranks as the nation’s No. 578 2021 high school prospect, No. 49 offensive tackle, and No. 82 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 35 offensive tackle and No. 49 prospect out of Texas.
As of the morning of Dec. 15, Uke holds offers from more than 20 schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Penn State Nittany Lions, Houston Cougars, USC, Vanderbilt Commodores, Mizzou Tigers, Stanford Cardinal, TCU Horned Frogs, and Virginia Tech Hokies.
