The 2021 Texas football recruiting class inked down an important prospect to sign on Dec. 16, with the five-star Denton-Ryan athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders.

The top rated prospect in the 2021 Texas football recruiting class made big headlines on the first day of the Early Signing Period (specifically on the morning of Dec. 16) by signing his National Letter of Intent to play for fourth-year head coach Tom Herman. The elite five-star Denton-Ryan athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders inked his letter of intent on Dec. 16 to help continue to lock down Texas’ 2021 recruiting class.

As the most notable signing or Herman and the Longhorns in their 2021 class on the first day of the Early Signing Period, Sanders brings a lot of excitement to the Forty Acres. In fact, he was one of the initial commits in the Longhorns 2021 class to ink down his letter of intent on the first day of the Early Signing Period.

Not only is Sanders the highest rated commit in the Longhorns 2021 signing class, as of the early afternoon of Dec. 16, he is the lone five-star prospect in the mix. He ranks as the nation’s No. 21 2021 high school prospect, top overall athlete, and No. 3 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).

Sanders was one of two elite blue chip commits in the Longhorns 2021 class entering the 2020 college football season. But Texas lost out on the commitment of Sanders’ teammate and the elite four-star Denton-Ryan athlete Billy Bowman Jr. back in October. Bowman Jr. wound up flipping his commitment to join head coach Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners less than six weeks later.

Moreover, Sanders chose to commit and sign with Texas over offers from more than 20 other schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M Aggies.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 17 in the nation and holds steady in the second spot in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma. Texas currently holds 18 commits in their 2021 class on the first day of the Early Signing Period.

As of the early afternoon of Dec. 16, the Longhorns signed 17 of their 18 commits in the 2021 class. The lone commit that has yet to sign his letter of intent at this point in time is four-star Kimball cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem, who had some off-the-field issues going on within the past week.
