Baylor

Another local potential landing spot that emerged for Jackson, right in the Big 12, is with former LSU Tigers defensive coordinator and Baylor Bears first-year head coach Dave Aranda. Baylor lost their standout senior dual-threat quarterback Charlie Brewer to the transfer portal entering next offseason, which is a sizable detriment to the program.

Brewer helped the restoration of the Baylor program within the last few years, namely under the direction of former head coach Matt Rhule. And while Aranda looked to have this program trending in the right direction heading into the offseason in his first year at the helm, losing a quarterback like Brewer is an obvious setback.

Now that Brewer’s name is in the transfer portal, the Baylor quarterback battle could come down to the likes of Jacob Zeno, Gerry Bohanon, and their 2021 four-star dual-threat signal caller commit/signee Kyron Drones. Adding Jackson to the mix could give Aranda and the Bears a new front runner to win the quarterback battle next fall.

Baylor was one of the more than 25 schools that sent Jackson a scholarship offer coming out of high school. And while it was namely Rhule’s staff that was recruiting Jackson, the current Baylor staff still could make sense as a good fit for him. If Jackson buys into the Baylor program being on the rise again, then he could consider them as a potential landing spot out of the portal.
