Texas Football: 3 possible transfer landing spots for QB Ja’Quinden Jackson
1) Destinations for Texas football transfer QB Jackson
Nebraska
The dark horse potential landing spot for Jackson among the three schools on this list would definitely be with former UCF Knights head coach Scott Frost and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. As one of the college programs that did offer Jackson out of Duncanville High School during the 2020 cycle, Nebraska could be one to watch out of the portal.
The problem with Jackson landing with the Huskers is the overarching storyline of Frost’s hot seat. Transferring to Nebraska wouldn’t sound great to Jackson if there is a high level of coaching instability in Lincoln. But if the Huskers are at least willing to give Frost one more year at the helm, then it may be worth a look for Jackson to take his talents to join this program.
It was largely the same staff that Nebraska still has at the helm that recruited Jackson last cycle. And if the time of current Nebraska starting quarterback Adrian Martinez is done in Lincoln heading into next offseason, then there could be an open opportunity for Jackson to make an immediate impact as their next starter.
Since Nebraska is still largely a rebuilding program heading into 2021, this could be a landing spot for Jackson where he could be a long-term starter and make a multi-year impact. Frost’s offense tends to try to make the best use out of a dual-threat quarterback that has a strong arm, which is exactly what Jackson showed in terms of his talents and skill set coming out of high school.
