3) Texas basketball bold predictions vs. OK State

Courtney Ramey goes for a season-high 25 points

For Texas to take care of business against Oklahoma State to open up Big 12 play, the play of the dynamic guard pairing of junior Courtney Ramey and senior Matt Coleman is going to have to take center stage. The former of those two is really living up to the hype on the offensive end of the floor so far this season.

Ramey has played in all seven games for the Longhorns so far this season (all of which he’s started in). And he’s averaged a team-best 15.0 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.3 blocks. Ramey shot 44.9 percent from the field, an impressive 48.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line.

With Oklahoma State’s perimeter defending looking inconsistent at times, Ramey could be able to take full advantage. He largely disappeared when Texas faced Oklahoma State in their regular season finale last season, but that should be a chip on his shoulder to take his game to the next level in this Big 12 opener.

There’s only one occasion so far this season where Ramey scored at least 20 points, and that was in the opener back on Nov. 25 in a home win over the UTRGV Vaqueros. But the results were consistent so far from Ramey, as he’s scored in double figures in every single game this season. Expectations could realistically be high for him against the Pokes to round out the weekend.
