The number of losses for the Texas football program heading into next offseason is starting to creep up well into the double digits.

Heading into the postseason, fourth-year Texas football head coach Tom Herman is looking like he will be without a number of his best players from the roster heading into the regular season. Texas has lot a good amount of players already to the early 2021 NFL Draft entrances and to some entering the NCAA Transfer Portal heading into next offseason.

Herman and the Longhorns are set to face their former Big 12 foe, the Colorado Buffaloes, in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on Dec. 29. They could be thin on depth in certain areas on both sides of the ball thanks to those aforementioned frequent early entrants for the 2021 NFL Draft, and players going into the transfer portal ahead of next offseason.

Moreover, Texas finished up the 2020 regular season with a record of 6-3 (5-3 Big 12), winning four of their last five games. Their last game resulted in dismantling of head coach Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats on the road back on Dec. 5, by the final score of 69-31.

But inconsistent results on the field and on the recruiting trail brought about question marks for the current standing of this program, and Herman’s job status in particular. That doesn’t bode well for this coaching staff when they’re trying to retain as much talent as possible heading into the offseason and trying to pick things up on the recruiting trail.

There’s already nearing a double-digit number of entrants for the Longhorns into the 2021 NFL Draft. And technically every Longhorns player that declares for the 2021 draft is an early entrant, since no one burned a year of eligibility playing in this college football season.

Here’s a look into the grades for each entrant decision so far for the Longhorns in the 2021 NFL Draft.
