Of all the players available in the transfer portal right now, which would fourth-year Texas football head coach Tom Herman love to get for Christmas?

A common point of emphasis entering next offseason for the Texas football program and fourth-year head coach Tom Herman will be hitting the NCAA Transfer Portal to fill any positional needs that emerge. At the moment, there are a few key positional needs that Herman and his staff could fill out of the transfer portal, but the outlook for the roster next year is still murky.

We won’t know what the outlook for the 2021 roster will be likely until at least a few weeks after the Longhorns postseason game, in the Alamo Bowl against the Colorado Buffaloes on Dec. 29. There are a lot of Longhorns players that have already declared for the 2021 NFL Draft, or put their names in the transfer portal.

But we don’t know if there are more Longhorns players that are soon to intend to transfer or declare early for the NFL Draft. One of the most important Longhorns players to watch in this regard is the star senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who is apparently still undecided on what he will do after this season is concluded.

Texas has lost key players like sophomore cornerback Kenyatta Watson II and freshman quarterback Ja’Quinden Jackson to the transfer portal already. And they’ve hauled in one key transfer portal commit since the beginning of the Early Signing Period, with the former McNeese State senior cornerback Darion Dunn.

Who else could be on the way for Herman and the Longhorns?

Here’s a look into four potential transfer portal targets for the Longhorns that would be tremendous Christmas gifts for Herman to get his hands on heading into next offseason.
