1) Texas football transfer portal gifts for Herman

Definitely one of the best defensive backs left in the transfer portal, as of the late afternoon of Dec. 24, is the former Louisville Cardinals safety/cornerback Russ Yeast. The senior defensive back was very multiple during his years playing under head coach Scott Satterfield with the Louisville program of late.

Yeast played at safety of late for the Cardinals, but was originally recruited as a cornerback out of Center Grove High School in Greenwood, IN. He ranked as the nation’s No. 286 2017 high school prospect, No. 33 cornerback, and No. 3 prospect out of Indiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the No. 37 cornerback and No. 3 prospect out of Indiana.

The 5-foot-11 and 205 pound talented former four-star recruit was not only versatile for the Louisville secondary in his four years playing for the program, but he was very productive and efficient. He played in 11 regular season games this fall for the Cardinals before putting his name in the transfer portal. And he racked up 45 combined tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, no sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

Moreover, Yeast was just really productive over the course of his four years playing for Louisville in general. He registered 137 career combined tackles, four tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, one interception, nine pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

With Herman and first-year defensive coordinator/safeties coach Chris Ash cross training junior cornerback Jalen Green at safety too right now in preparation for the Alamo Bowl, it doesn’t sound like the worst idea to have Yeast in the mix next year.
