2) Texas football freshmen who could breakout in Alamo Bowl

The defensive side of the ball and the offensive line will be the two broad spots for the Longhorns that will have a lot of new faces in the mix in the Alamo Bowl. Texas is going to have a key new face along the defensive line later this week to try and blow up multiple plays in the backfield from the Colorado offenses that was one of the most highly coveted signees in the 2020 recruiting class.

Former elite five-star recruit and freshman defensive tackle Alfred Collins didn’t get a whole lot of snaps during the regular season, but he will definitely get a bigger role in the Alamo Bowl. He did get a little more than twice as many snaps this fall for the Longhorns than Thompson during the regular season, but both will have more pressure on them in the postseason.

Collins did play in bits and pieces of all nine games during the regular season for the Longhorns. And in the process, he registered 18 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and two pass breakups. Collins did show that he can make a huge impact on a number of portions of the game for the Texas defensive line.

To add to that mark, Collins had only two missed tackles, nine additional quarterback pressures, eight stops, two batted balls, and no penalties called against him. In this 3-4 defensive scheme that Ash likes to run, Collins is likely to be the starter at defensive tackle in place of senior Ta’Quon Graham. Moro Ojomo and Keondre Coburn should be the other starters along the defensive line.
