The final game of a crazy 2020 season has arrived for No. 20 ranked Texas football as they battle the Colorado Buffaloes in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.

The day of the kick off of the Alamo Bowl has arrived for fourth-year head coach Tom Herman and his No. 20 ranked Texas football team. Texas will take on their former Big 12 foe, the Colorado Buffaloes, in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on Dec. 29. It will be an opportunity for Texas to at least get to the seven win mark to round out this crazy college football season.

Texas and Colorado look to be headed in opposite directions coming into this Alamo Bowl showdown. The men in burnt orange come in with a record of 6-3 (5-3 Big 12), with wins in four of their last five games. The Longhorns last game resulted in a 69-31 domination of the Kansas State Wildcats on the road in Manhattan on Dec. 5. Their last loss came back at home on Nov. 27 (Black Friday/Senior Day) against the Iowa State Cyclones by a three-point margin after a missed 57-yard field goal attempt by junior kicker Cameron Dicker.

Meanwhile, Colorado comes into the Alamo Bowl with a record of 4-1 (3-1 PAC-12). They won their first four games out of the gates this fall. But Colorado’s last game resulted in a loss to the Utah Utes back on Dec. 12 in the Rumble in the Rockies.

Entering this game, Texas is an increasingly slim favorite over Colorado. Just hours ahead of kick off in San Antonio, the Longhorns are down to a 7.5 point favorite over the Buffs. And the ESPN matchup predictor (developed by the Football Power Index) still gives Texas a 79.9 percent chance to win this game.

Here’s a look at the live stream, kick off time, pick for the game, and more as Texas takes on Colorado in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.

Injured Texas football players

Texas is dealing with a plethora of entrants into the NCAA Transfer Portal, early entrants/opt outs ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, and injury issues ahead of kick off of the Alamo Bowl. Herman and the Longhorns are now set to miss senior offensive lineman Denzel Okafor, due to COVID-19 contact tracing, and senior offensive guard/center Derek Kerstetter with a lower-body injury.

In place of Okafor, the Longhorns are likely to see redshirt freshman offensive tackle and former highly coveted five-star recruit Tyler Johnson get the start. There could also be additional movement along the line, and freshman offensive guard Logan Parr could see more snaps in the wake of this Okafor absence.

Meanwhile, Kerstetter suffered a season-ending injury in the de facto regular season finale win over Kansas State on the road earlier this month. Replacing Kerstetter at the center spot should be true freshman Jake Majors.

And another notable loss for the Longhorns just surfaced ahead of kick off with the former graduate transfer senior wide receiver Tarik Black (per Horns247 report, paid content) missing the Alamo Bowl. Black will reportedly turn pro and his last game played for the Longhorns came in that aforementioned de facto regular season finale.

Black and junior wide receiver Brennan Eagles both have now played their final game in the Texas receiving corps.

Predicting Texas football vs. Colorado

Even with all of the depth losses that Herman and the Longhorns have suffered of late on both sides of the ball, they should still hold the edge in this game. Texas is unscathed in three tries in the postseason under Herman’s direction. Star senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger could also be playing in his final game of his college career in the Alamo Bowl.

Expect Ehlinger and the Longhorns to come out fast in this game and take control right away. A solid Colorado ground game, led by breakthrough star sophomore running back Jarek Broussard, will keep the Buffs around. But the Longhorns will get a comfortable two possession win in the end.

Final score prediction: Texas 35, Colorado 24
