3) Potential Texas football flips under Sark

Once upon a time, the elite five-star Lakeview Centennial 5-foot-11 and 190 pound five-star running back product Camar Wheaton was a prioritized target for Herman and the Longhorns 2021 recruiting class. But as this cycle moved along, Texas started zoning more in on the highly coveted four-star Cy-Fair running back LJ Johnson.

Now that the Longhorns are down to battling head coach Jimbo Fisher and their in-state rival Texas A&M Aggies on the recruiting trail to land Johnson’s commitment, maybe they’ll try to get in contact with Wheaton once again.

Wheaton wound up giving his commitment to head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide back on Dec. 23, but he has yet to sign his National Letter of Intent. In fact, Wheaton is the lone commit in Alabama’s 2021 class that has not signed his letter of intent yet, as of the early afternoon of Jan. 2.

The commitment of Wheaton wound up going to the Crimson Tide over a few other key finalist schools. Namely, the LSU Tigers and Oklahoma were largely in the running to get Wheaton in their 2021 class. Wheaton also chose to take his talents to Alabama over offers from Texas and 25 other schools.

The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet included the Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M, and USC Trojans.

And Wheaton ranks as the nation’s No. 26 2021 high school prospect, No. 2 running back, and No. 4 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 59 high school prospect, No. 4 running back, and No. 10 prospect out of Texas.
