2) Texas football assistant targets early for Sark

Jeff Banks, Alabama Special Teams Coach

Yet another key Alabama assistant under the direction of legendary head coach Nick Saban, that would be great for Sark to bring to the Forty Acres is the Crimson Tide special teams coordinator Jeff Banks. Serving as the Crimson Tide special teams coordinator for the last three years, Banks became one of the premier assistants in the nation in his particular role.

Prior to taking the special teams coordinator role entering the 2018 season with Alabama, Banks served as a recruiting coordinator and special teams coach under former head coach Kevin Sumlin with the Texas A&M Aggies from 2013-2017.

His alma mater is Washington State University, and one of his first major college football coaching roles was a graduate assistant with the Cougars in the late 1990’s. And he took on his first Division I special teams coordinator role with the UTEP Miners entering the 2004 season.

Banks is a good recruiter, and could bring a whole new dynamic to this Texas coaching staff. The current special teams coach for the Longhorns is also the tight ends coach, Jay Boulware. Coming aboard with Herman and the Longhorns last offseason, Boulware doesn’t seem like an assistant that Sark would plan on keeping around heading into the 2021 season.

If Banks is willing to leave Tuscaloosa for a potential pay raise, then he would definitely be worth going after for Sark as he takes over as the Longhorns head coach this offseason.
