Texas Football: 3 best Ayodele Adeoye transfer landing spots
1) Landing spots for former Texas football LB Adeoye
Mizzou
One of the more obvious landing spots that could come about for the Missouri native Adeoye out of the transfer portal this offseason would be the big-time in-state school, the Mizzou Tigers. Former NC State Wolfpack offensive coordinator Eli Drinkwitz and his Mizzou team actually had a better than anticipated run during the 2020 season.
And with some heavy losses on the defensive side of the ball anticipated for the impending college football offseason, Mizzou could be a big player in the transfer portal out of the SEC. Drinkwitz is continuing to try and rebuild this program in the post-Gary Pinkel and Barry Odom-era in Columbia heading into 2021.
Mizzou was a struggling defense in the SEC during the 2020 season. They ranked outside of the top 80 teams in the FBS this season in points allowed per game (roughly 33). An upgrade in depth at the linebacker position could go a long way to help the Tigers ahead of next season. Adeoye should definitely be on Drinkwitz’s radar at this point in time.
Mizzou tried hard to pursue Adeoye when he was coming out of high school during the 2018 recruiting cycle. They did offer him pretty early on in his recruitment when he ranked as the nation’s No. 119 2018 high school prospect, No. 6 inside linebacker, and No. 23 prospect out of Missouri (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the nation’s No. 104 high school prospect, No. 6 inside linebacker, and No. 16 prospect out of Missouri.
