Texas Football: 4 transfer targets to replace Keaontay Ingram
1) Texas football transfer RB targets to replace Ingram
Definitely the most recognizable and highly touted running back transfer on this list that the Longhorns could target, and the one that was the most highly rated recruit coming out of high school, is the now former Michigan Wolverines sophomore standout Zach Charbonnet. With some of the other top tier running backs that were in the portal a few weeks ago committing elsewhere, Texas should really zone in on Charbonnet.
This sizable and efficient 6-foot-1 and 220 pound rusher is about as good as it will get at the moment in targeting this position group out of the portal for the likes of Texas running backs coach Stan Drayton at the moment. Charbonnet brings a lot of proven talent to the table, and still could have three years of eligibility remaining if he sees out his entire college career.
Last fall, Charbonnet registered 124 rushing yards on 19 carries (6.5 yards per carry), with just one rushing touchdown. He did that in bits and pieces of five games played during the already shortened 2020 season. The time where he really shined was during his freshman campaign in 2019.
In 2019, Charbonnet registered 726 rushing yards (4.9 yards per carry), a whopping 11 rushing touchdowns, and just over 30 receiving yards and no touchdown catches.
Charbonnet was an incredibly highly touted recruit coming out of Oaks Christian High School in California during the 2019 recruiting cycle. He ranked as the nation’s No. 49 2019 high school prospect, No. 4 running back, and No. 8 prospect out of California (247Sports Composite).
