4) Texas football transfer targets to replace Jalen Green

Amid the bigger defensive back names in the portal coming out of the Big Ten at this point of the offseason is the former Michigan State Spartans potent sophomore cornerback Davion Williams. This sizable and promising 6-foot-2 and 185 pound cornerback would bring a big presence to this Longhorns secondary and stock pile their depth, all at the same time.

Williams was an underrated but potent three-star recruit coming out of Belleville High School in Belleville, MI, as he signed with Michigan State’s 2018 recruiting class. He ranked as the nation’s No. 470 2018 high school prospect, No. 48 cornerback, and No. 9 prospect out of Michigan (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the nation’s No. 184 high school prospect, No. 17 cornerback, and No. 4 prospect out of Michigan.

Coming out of high school, Williams held offers from the likes of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones, Indiana Hoosiers, Purdue Boilermakers, Syracuse Orange, UCLA Bruins, and Wisconsin Badgers.

In two years playing for Michigan State during his college career so far, Williams registered 14 career combined tackles, no tackles for loss, no sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries, in just 11 games played. He also has just two missed tackles, no passing touchdowns allowed in pass coverage, and doesn’t have any penalties called against him.

During the 2020 campaign in particular, Williams registered eight combined tackles in bits and pieces of four games played. He would be more of a long-term fit with the Texas secondary, but he was very efficient in limited spots for the Spartans over the course of the last two years.
