Texas Football: 3 appealing transfer portal QB options this offseason
3) Texas football QB transfer portal options
The former Ole Miss Rebels highly touted four-star quarterback recruit Grant Tisdale is a good example of a player that is hard to believe that he will still technically be a redshirt freshman heading into the 2021 season. Tisdale was a key part of Ole Miss’s 2019 recruiting class, as a blue chip recruit that highlighted this position group at the time.
But there wasn’t much of any playing time that former Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke dealt out to Tisdale during his true freshman campaign back in 2019. And he was firmly down the depth chart for current Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin last season. In fact, Tisdale has only played in bits and pieces of two games in his college career so far.
There are significant ties for Tisdale back to the state of Texas. He also had a lot of attention from schools in and around the state and of Texas (namely those from the Big 12), during his recruitment. The 6-foot and 215 pound talented signal caller and Allen High School product held offers from 16 schools during his recruitment.
Some of the highlighting schools on his offer sheet included the Baylor Bears, Colorado Buffaloes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon Ducks, SMU Mustangs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Utah.
He ranked as the nation’s No. 358 2019 high school prospect, No. 14 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 44 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback and No. 45 prospect out of Texas.
All that Tisdale has registered in terms of stats in his college career thus far is 56 passing yards on two completions, with one going for a touchdown. Tisdale would definitely be more of a long-term investment for Sark and the Longhorns in terms of an immediate impact signal caller.
