2) Texas football QB transfer portal options

Just like it is pretty hard to believe that the former Ole Miss signal caller Tisdale is still going to be just a redshirt freshman by the start of the 2021 season, it is even harder to believe that the next name up on this list will be a redshirt sophomore this year. The fourth-year Texas Tech Red Raiders former standout quarterback Alan Bowman is one of the biggest names remaining out of the portal at this position this far into the offseason.

It also came as a bit of a surprise that Bowman intended to leave Lubbock and put his name in the transfer portal in the first place early in this offseason. He entered the portal officially just a couple of weeks back, and it further shook up the look of the quarterback landscape in the Big 12 this offseason.

Bowman had a rough run during his three years playing for Texas Tech in terms of injury problems, especially with collapsed lungs and concussions. But he did get to play in eight full games for the Red Raiders during the 2020 campaign. Bowman registered 1,596 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 130.6 passer efficiency rating last season.

For his college career in total, Bowman registered 5,254 passing yards, 33 passing touchdowns, 17 interceptions, 67.0 completion percentage, 7.2 adjusted yards per passing attempt, and a 140 passer efficiency rating.

Bowman was pretty under-recruited coming out of high school back during the 2018 cycle. The Grapevine, TX, product ranked as the nation’s No. 899 2018 high school prospect, No. 37 pro-style quarterback, and No. 126 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).

Some of the highlighting schools on Bowman’s offer sheet coming out of high school included the Cincinnati Bearcats, Arkansas State Red Wolves, Houston Cougars, Ole Miss, and Illinois Fighting Illini. Bowman would be more of that immediate impact quarterback if that’s something Sark wants out of the portal this offseason.
