2) Immediate impact 2021 Texas football signees

Despite earning that coveted fourth star to his recruiting ranking, this 6-foot and 185 pound Hallettsville running back Jonathon Brooks was still one of the most underrated high school prospects at his position in this cycle. It was just before National Signing Day that Brooks earned that well-deserved fourth star, but it took a bit too long.

There wasn’t much attention paid to Brooks on the recruiting trail in general. Texas was one of just seven schools that sent Brooks a scholarship offer during his recruitment. Some of the other schools on his offer sheet included the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Colorado State Rams, Texas State Bobcats, Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, and UTSA Roadrunners.

The numbers that Brooks put up during his senior season in high school were mesmerizing. He registered more than 3,500 rushing yards during his senior campaign on just under 300 attempts, to go along with 62 rushing touchdowns, just over 300 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns. Those numbers are just insane. It’s hard to let all of that sink in.

It’s likely that Brooks could be the third running back in line for the Longhorns come this fall. He could very well fall in line behind the likes of sophomore running back Roschon Johnson and stud freshman Bijan Robinson.

Moreover, Brooks ranks as the nation’s No. 356 2021 high school prospect, No. 18 running back, and No. 50 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 20 running back and No. 51 prospect out of Texas.
