2) Most underrated 2021 Texas football signees

The lone National Signing Day addition to the Longhorns 2021 class among high school prospects was a former Notre Dame commit and blue chip 6-foot-4 and 250 pound strong-side defensive end David Abiara. This talented product also hailing out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex floated between trending to different schools after decommitting from Notre Dame last year before eventually landing with Texas for good last week.

Abiara wound up choosing to commit and sign with Texas over offers from two dozen other schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet included the Baylor Bears, Alabama, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan State Spartans, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Moreover, Abiara ranks as the nation’s No. 437 2021 high school prospect, No. 29 strong-side defensive end, and No. 62 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 43 strong-side defensive end and No. 107 prospect out of Texas.

Newly hired Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and Sark got a solid haul in their 2021 class in the front seven, with two other four-star defensive ends getting signed down. Abiara looks to be the most underrated of the bunch. He could still put some size onto his frame, so the ability to make an immediate impact might not be there.

But the impact that Abiara could make for the Longhorns down the road could be unmatched by most other signees in the front seven in the 2021 class.
