As of the afternoon of Feb. 9, it looks like there’s a ton of momentum that the 2022 Texas football recruiting class is starting to gain. Newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian is starting to make waves with his staff on the recruiting trail following a roller coaster ride of a cycle that just wrapped up last week with National Signing Day 2021.

More good news could be just around the corner for Sark and the Longhorns 2022 recruiting class too. According to a report from Horns247 the early afternoon of Feb. 10, there are more 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions in for a key unheralded three-star in-state inside linebacker product hailing out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex going in favor of the Longhorns.

That unheralded linebacker that we are speaking of is the 6-foot and 200 pound Arlington-Martin inside linebacker Trevell Johnson. This in-state product is a now former teammate of fellow Arlington-Martin linebacker and 2021 Texas signee Morice Blackwell. That could play a role in where the recruitment of Johnson looks to be headed in the very near future.

Johnson is also reportedly expected to have a news dropped regarding his college decision in the not too distant future. As of the evening of Feb. 10, it looks like the Longhorns are sitting in great position to get their first linebacker commit in the 2022 class, though.

The trio of Crystal Ball Predictions that were just put in this week concerning the commitment decision of Johnson all went to the Longhorns over the rest of the competition. There are no other expert Crystal Ball Predictions in favoring him to land with a school other than Texas.

What about Trevell Johnson and Texas football

As of the evening of Feb. 10, Johnson holds offers from just shy of 20 schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet are the Baylor Bears, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Arkansas Razorbacks, LSU Tigers, Mizzou Tigers, Oklahoma State Cowboys, SMU Mustangs, Tennessee Volunteers, Utah Utes, and Virginia Tech Hokies.

Moreover, Johnson ranks as the nation’s No. 520 2022 high school prospect, No. 21 inside linebacker, and No. 65 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 18 inside linebacker and No. 76 prospect out of Texas.

Newly hired Texas linebackers coach and former Montana State Bobcats head coach Jeff Choate, along with new defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, are doing good work already on the recruiting trail with this position group. Linebacker was one of the stronger position groups in the Longhorns 2021 class too.
