There looks to be a good amount of movement occurring right now in a positive direction for newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian and his 2022 Texas football recruiting class. Texas is already starting to build a lot of momentum for their 2022 class by way of recent commitments from the likes of four-star Klein Cain running back Jaydon Blue and four-star Lewisville wide receiver Armani Winfield.

Turning the attention to the defensive side of the ball, it looks like the Longhorns have new targets in their sights.

According to a report from Horns247 on the night of Feb. 12 (paid content), there’s a trio of prospects that could very well be on the Longhorns radar for their 2022 recruiting class at this point in time. Of that trio of prospects, all are defensive backs (and are specifically classified as safeties).

That trio of defensive backs potentially trending toward the Longhorns 2022 class includes four-star West Brook product Bryce Anderson, four-star Timberview product and Jaden Hullaby’s product Landon Hullaby, and four-star Garland product Chace Biddle. Of that trio, Biddle and Hullaby are name at the safety position that were firmly on the Longhorns radar for a while now.

Anderson is the newest one to the party, at least among 2022 safety prospects that could realistically take his talents to the Forty Acres. This highly touted 5-foot-11 and 185 pound Beaumont, TX, native has the chance to potentially be the second defensive back commit in this 2022 class.

The first defensive back commit in the Longhorns 2022 class is the talented four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau.

The problem that Sark and the Longhorns will face in pursuing Anderson further is the competing programs trying to win his commitment coinciding with them. While there is now one 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction in for Anderson to give his commitment to Texas, the rival Texas A&M Aggies and LSU Tigers also have some going in their direction.

Background of Anderson and Texas football

Texas, Texas A&M, and LSU, are just three of the 40 schools that have now sent scholarship offers to Anderson. He’s a very highly touted defensive back prospect that is getting attention from top tier programs all over the college football landscape.

The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma Sooners, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Tennessee Volunteers, and USC Trojans.

Moreover, Anderson ranks as the nation’s No. 66 2022 high school prospect, No. 4 safety, and No. 12 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 84 high school prospect, No. 6 safety, and No. 15 prospect out of Texas.

A commitment decision isn’t scheduled yet for Anderson, but it could be coming before too long. He looks to have some competition among other Texas targets at the safety position for slotting in this ever-improving and potent 2022 Longhorns recruiting class.
