The results for newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian and the 2022 Texas football recruiting class of late were nothing short of amazing since the holiday weekend. A spark provided by the hiring of the former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator and the reigning Broyles Award winner Sark really helped to build a solid foundation of late for the 2022 recruiting class.

Sark and the Longhorns landed commitments from the elite five-star Junipero Serra pro-style quarterback Maalik Murphy and underrated three-star Arlington-Martin inside linebacker Trevell Johnson within hours of each other on the afternoon/evening of Feb. 12. And since then, a number of other talented 2022 prospects look like they could be joining this class in the near future.

One prospect that was recently trending toward landing with Sark and the Longhorns 2022 class is the unheralded North Shore 6-foot-3 and 265 pound defensive tackle Kristopher Ross. This rising unranked product hailing out of Houston, TX, is really starting to pick up a lot of attention on the recruiting trail of late.

Just since the start of the month of February, Ross received more than half of the scholarship offers that he now holds on his rapidly increasing offer sheet. And there’s a lot more Power Five attention coming his way of late too.

Leanings for this Texas football DT target

In the last two weeks alone, Ross added schools to his offer sheet that included the Arizona State Sun Devils, USC Trojans, Longhorns, LSU Tigers, Marshall Thundering Herd, and Oklahoma Sooners. He also cut down his finalist list of schools down to four on his Twitter timeline on the afternoon of Feb. 13.

The four schools amid the latest round of finalist cuts for Ross includes LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and the Baylor Bears. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Arkansas State Red Wolves, and SMU Mustangs.

Moreover, there looks to be a decision date in store for Ross on Feb. 19. Going by most indications at this moment, Ross looks to be trending firmly in favor of landing with the Longhorns 2022 class.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have all four of their experts with their picks in thus far favoring Ross’ commitment to go to the Longhorns over the rest of the field. Most of those expert Crystal Ball Predictions came in since Ross announced he received his Texas scholarship offer back on Feb. 4.

Landing a commitment from Ross would mean an underrated foundation that the Longhorns could build their front seven off of in the 2022 class. Ross is still unranked in the 247Sports Composite and the Top247. But Rivals ranks him as the No. 26 2022 defensive tackle and No. 51 prospect out of Texas.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 7 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma. Sark and the Longhorns now hold commits from five prospects in the 2021 class, with two of them playing on the defensive side of the ball.
