Last weekend was a special one for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class, as newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian really took advantage of recently built momentum on the trail. Texas landed commitments from the likes of the elite five-star Junipero Serra pro-style quarterback Maalik Murphy and the underrated three-star Arlington-Martin inside linebacker Trevell Johnson, all in a span of hours on the afternoon/evening of Feb. 13.

Since then, a number of 2022 prospects have started trending in the direction of Sark and the Longhorns. Sark’s building 2022 recruiting class has the potential to really become something special in the very near future.

Possibly the most highly touted 2022 prospect that started trending to Sark and the Longhorns of late is the elite five-star Bowie 6-foot-4 and 295 pound offensive guard Devon Campbell. After Texas had a really rough go at things in the trenches on the recruiting trail in their 2021 class, their results with this position group can really turnaround by landing a commitment from Campbell.

Texas has yet to land any commits along the offensive line in their 2022 class. But there might not be a more special one that they could add than the uber-talented product hailing out of Arlington, TX, Campbell.

The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the LSU Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners, Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, Penn State Nittany Lions, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans.

Schools like Oregon and USC have even sent scholarship offers Campbell’s way in February.

Moreover, Campbell ranks as the nation’s No. 9 2022 high school prospect, top overall offensive guard, and No. 3 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 22 high school prospect, top overall offensive guard, and No. 5 prospect out of Texas.

It must excite Campbell at the prospect of joining another Arlington product in Johnson in the Longhorns 2022 class. And the idea of playing with one of the most talented quarterback prospects for this recruiting cycle, the California native Murphy, by joining the 2022 Texas class.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 7 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma. Texas now has five commits in their 2022 class, with Murphy being the highest rated.
