Texas Football: 5 important transfer portal targets for March

There’s going to continue to be a lot of movement in the NCAA Transfer Portal off the Forty Acres this offseason. Newly hired Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian is likely to have his hands full with filling out his roster for the 2021 season, where his team will have pretty high expectations once again.

Texas is going to have to fill various holes and depth voids in their roster during the 2021 offseason. And Sark and the Longhorns new coaching staff have already dealt with a plethora of transfers since the offseason began. Although, that was to be expected after the rather surprising (at least at the time it happened) firing of the now former fourth-year Texas head coach Tom Herman back on Jan. 2.

The results on the recruiting trail have really been sparked in a big way in their 2022 class after the hiring of Sark. Texas holds a top five ranked 2022 recruiting class in the nation at this point, and they sit at the top of the Big 12.

But the 2022 class obviously won’t be able to plug any depth needs that Sark and the Longhorns have on the current roster. Texas might have to turn to the NCAA Transfer Portal to fill those. And they just lost another experienced piece to the transfer portal this week in the senior defensive lineman Marqez Bimage.

Where can Texas look as the calendar turns from February to March if they want to look to the transfer portal to continue to fill any depth needs? Here’s a look at five big names in the portal this month for the Longhorns to target.
