The time has arrived for former Texas football players to take part in the critical portion of the 2021 NFL Draft scouting process. And two of the Texas Exes that now have the national spotlight on them through the draft scouting process are former junior safety and elite five-star recruit Caden Sterns and star junior outside linebacker/edge rusher Joseph Ossai.

And with the Longhorns holding their Pro Day on March 11, the plethora of NFL Draft prospects coming off the Forty Acres this year got to show off their skills and athleticism. Sterns and Ossai were two of the former Longhorns that were really impressive in the Texas Pro Day this week too.

Sterns apparently had a really solid vertical jump measure, at 42 inches. Ossai was solid on the trio of the benchpress (19 reps), broad jump (10-foot-11), and in the vertical leap (41.5 inches). Sterns also measured in with 14 reps on the benchpress and a 10-foot-9 broad jump.

What a big Texas football Pro Day will do

That is a solid Texas Pro Day for the pair of former Longhorns defensive standouts. And with Ossai attempting to cement his status as a first round pick in this NFL Draft class, a big Pro Day is something that will really help him at this point in time.

Sterns might need the big Pro Day even more than Ossai, though. The Texas native and three-year Longhorns starter was invited to the NFL Draft Combine this year, and needs to continue the momentum he built through this process starting with the Pro Day.

There were also reports that Sterns ran a really solid 40-yard dash time at the Pro Day. NFL Draft expert Matt Miller posted on his Twitter timeline on the afternoon of March 11 that Sterns ran a 4.40 second 40-yard dash time.

During his three years playing for Texas, Sterns registered 173 career combined tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, five interceptions, and eight pass breakups. His most productive season was likely his true freshman campaign back in 2018.
