The Pro Day for the Texas football program on March 11 highlighted some of the top talent from their former players for the 2021 NFL Draft Class. With the draft scouting process now firmly underway, multiple Texas Exes got to shine at the Pro Day on the Forty Acres late this week.

One of the former Longhorns that really shined on March 11 in the Texas Pro Day was the standout redshirt junior offensive tackle and former underrated three-star recruit Sam Cosmi. As one of the most reliable and talented offensive linemen playing for the Longhorns in the last four or five years, Cosmi surely leaves campus with a high draft stock.

There’s not many more highly projected NFL Draft prospects coming off the Forty Acres within the last decade than Cosmi. He’s about as close as it gets among any former Longhorns in this draft class that could be a first round pick.

The social media reaction to the impressive Pro Day from Cosmi was ecstatic too. He even got a reaction from the San Francisco 49ers former All-Pro offensive tackle (six time Pro Bowler) Joe Staley on his Twitter timeline on the night of March 11.

The video of Cosmi running the 40-yard dash (which he clocked in at around 4.85 seconds) looked like a linebacker hauling along. The 6-foot-7 and 300 pound Cosmi is clearly staying in good shape after he had a premature end to the 2020 college football season.

Cosmi also had a very impressive 36 reps on the benchpress at his Pro Day. He truly showed off his athleticism and skills just months ahead of the start of day one of the 2021 NFL Draft.

During his third year playing for Texas, Cosmi was the best and most consistent offensive linemen in the mix. In more than 600 snaps played for the Longhorns last fall in front of senior star quarterback Sam Ehlinger, Cosmi allowed just two sacks, one additional quarterback hit, and five quarterback pressures.

Cosmi could very well find himself as a mid-first round pick in the 2021 draft. He looks both rested and in good shape to take his talents to the NFL Draft Combine later this offseaosn and make a real impact with scouts.
