Texas Football: Caden Sterns runs lightning fast 40-time at Pro Day
On March 11, a host of former Texas football players that are a part of the 2021 NFL Draft class got to take part in one of the big events in the timeline of the draft scouting process. It was the Texas Pro Day that occurred on campus on the Forty Acres on March 11, giving way to the start of a critical timeline of events for a number of Texas Exes.
And one of the former Longhorns that really put on a show in his Pro Day earlier this week was the former elite five-star recruit and talented junior safety Caden Sterns. As one of the former Longhorns that has a pretty volatile draft stock in this year’s class, Sterns needs to have a good showing at the NFL Draft Combine. He did get off to a good start, though, with his solid showing at his Pro Day.
The electric Texas Pro Day for Sterns all started out with his vertical jump, which was one of the best of any Big 12 player that has measured in for this drill thus far in the draft scouting process. Sterns reportedly finished with a vertical jump measured at a whopping 42 inches.
What else Sterns did at the Texas football Pro Day
It was a solid showing almost all around for Sterns at the Texas Pro Day. Along with measuring in with a 42 inch vertical leap, he also reportedly was timed with a very fast 4.40 second 40-yard dash. That was the fastest that was confirmed by Texas, or pro scouts for that matter, at the Pro Day on March 11.

Sterns was known to be one of the more gifted defensive backs hailing out of the Big 12 in this draft class, but that 40 yard dash time definitely defied expectations even for him. Showing off that type of speed will do nothing but help Sterns’ cause through the scouting process.
A lot of the drills and measurements that Sterns took part in on his Pro Day definitely looked good, and could help him boost his draft stock down the road.
Texas got a productive career out of Sterns during his three years playing on the Forty Acres. He registered more than 170 career combined tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, five interceptions, and eight pass breakups.
