It is No. 13 ranked Texas basketball that is actually the favorite to deal the red hot No. 12 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys and head coach Mike Boynton a big blow as they continue their quest for their first Big 12 Title under the direction of head coach Shaka Smart. This is by far the most promising postseason to date for Texas, as Smart’s team looks to take a lot of momentum out of the Big 12 Tournament into the “Big Dance” later this month.

Texas is set to take on Boynton and the Pokes on the night of March 13, to decide who will take the Big 12 crown. To get to this point, Smart and the Longhorns had to down the No. 20 ranked (and six-seed) Texas Tech Red Raiders in a quarterfinal matchup. Texas got the win over Texas Tech by a one-point margin back on March 11.

And then the Longhorns were supposed to face the two-seed Kansas Jayhawks in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament. But one positive COVID-19 test put the Jayhawks out of the conference tourney entirely.

On the Oklahoma State side, they had a more difficult path to this point through the Big 12 Tournament. Oklahoma State took care of business against the No. 10 ranked (and four-seed) West Virginia Mountaineers in the quarterfinals. And then the Pokes pulled off a massive upset of the No. 2 ranked and top-seeded Baylor Bears in the semifinals by a nine-point margin.

This will surely be a high octane matchup between Texas and Oklahoma State in Kansas City, MO, at the T-Mobile Center on March 13. Here’s a look at four reasons why the Longhorns will take care of business against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Tournament final round.
