At this point of the offseason, the installation of the schemes on both sides of the ball are occurring for the Texas football program. After Texas hired the former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator and reigning Broyles Award winner Steve Sarkisian to take over as the program’s next head coach back on Jan. 2, there’s been a lot of building excitement surrounding this new found potential on the Forty Acres.

Athletic director Chris del Conte officially announced that the Longhorns would be parting ways with the now former fourth-year head coach Tom Herman in early January. And thus the hiring of Sark as the program’s fourth head coach in a span of less than a decade now officially took place.

Texas does have a lot of new found excitement on campus, for good reason. The coaching staff that Sark has built up thus far could be exactly what this program needs. And the results on the recruiting trail of late (outside of the recent decommitment of the elite four-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart) were stellar for the 2022 and 2023 classes.

Spring ball is about to begin for the Longhorns on March 23, which was signal one of the first major phases this offseason under the Sark regime. And then the Texas spring football game is set to take place on April 24, giving the Longhorns roughly one month of practice time.

Who are the Longhorns players to watch in spring ball this year as the start of drills is about to take place? Here’s a look at three sophomores in particular to watch on the Forty Acres this spring.
