2) Upperclassmen to watch in spring for Texas football

Joshua Moore, Wide Receiver

The way that the former talented four-star recruit and redshirt sophomore wide receiver Joshua Moore played out of the gates last season was something that had to give a lot of confidence to Longhorns fans. Moore came out of the gates hot, although his production did slow down a bit down the stretch.

There’s a good chance that Moore will assume the go-to target role in the passing game for whoever wins the starting quarterback battle this year. That quarterback battle is likely to take place between redshirt sophomore Casey Thompson and freshman Hudson Card, with the former of those two probably holding the edge entering spring ball.

Moreover, in the first two months of the season last year Moore was spectacular for Texas. If Sark can recapture that same magic for a full season this fall then he’ll have a breakout star on his hands in Moore. In the first two months last season, Moore registered 343 receiving yards (more than 15 yards per catch) and a whopping seven touchdown catches.

For Moore to continue to hold one of the bigger roles in the receiving corps this year, he’ll have to start out by showing out in a big way in spring ball. His play wasn’t very good down the stretch last season when he was actually healthy, so he’ll be put to the test under this new coaching staff right out of the gates later this month.
