After a really hot stretch of a few weeks on the trail for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class, this new look coaching staff led by recently hired head coach Steve Sarkisian has slowed down a bit in the middle of March. Sark landed more than five commits (although one of them wound up in a quick decommit earlier this month) in a span of less than two months after getting hired as the Texas head coach back on Jan. 2.

Sark replaced the now former fourth-year Longhorns head coach Tom Herman and got an immediate spark on the recruiting trail for both the 2022 and 2023 classes. He started off the 2023 class on a solid base by landing a commitment from the top ranked prospect out of the state for that cycle in the elite El Campo running back Rueben Owens.

Next steps for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class this offseason

And in the time since he was hired as the Texas head coach, Sark has also landed pledges from the elite five-star Junipero Serra pro-style quarterback Maalik Murphy and four-star Klein Cain running back Jaydon Blue, among others, for the 2022 class. Texas currently sits with six commits in their 2022 class after the decommitment of the talented four-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 8 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners. It feels like the spark on the recruiting trail won’t go away anytime soon for the Longhorns for their 2022 class under Sark’s direction this offseason.

Here’s a look at four prospects that Sark could look to flip this offseason to join the Longhorns 2022 class.
