Texas Football: 3 key out of state 2022 targets for Sark this offseason
As spring ball looms just around the corner for newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian, there still remains a focus on the 2022 Texas football recruiting class in a very big sense. Texas got a huge spark on the recruiting trail for both their 2022 and 2023 classes since Sark was hired to replaced now former fourth-year head coach Tom Herman back on Jan. 2.
Multiple blue chip commits for Sark in the Longhorns 2022 class, and landing the initial commit in the 2023 class highlighted the run on the recruiting trail for the program’s new head coach since he was hired more than two months ago. Sark also assembled a coaching staff worthy of national recognition and one that should do a prominent bit of work on the trail.
Texas is still looking to build on the six commits they have in their 2022 class. It wasn’t all flowers and rainbows for the Longhorns in the 2022 class, though, since Sark took over. Texas did get a decommitment from the talented four-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart back on March 11. That was the most detrimental bit of news on the trail for Sark since taking the reigns on the Forty Acres.
Any progress ahead for out-of-state prospects for Texas football
According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 8 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners. And the highest rated commit in the 2022 class is the elite five-star Junipero Serra pro-style quarterback Maalik Murphy.
Who could be next up for the Longhorns 2022 class and where should the focus lie next? Here’s a look at three big time out-of-state prospects for Sark during this offseason for the 2022 class.
