1) Key out of state 2022 prospects this offseason: Shazz Preston

Another extremely highly touted wide receiver prospect that Sark, Coleman, and the Longhorns are trying to make headway with at this point in time is the elusive 6-foot and 190 pound St. James product Shazz Preston. This uber-talented Louisiana native is still (despite his blue chip status) one of the more underappreciated prospects at his position for this recruiting cycle.

And Texas was after the commitment of Preston for a good while now. Preston received his scholarship offer from the Longhorns back on April 10, 2020. It is now close to a full calendar year since Texas originally sent their offer Preston’s way.

Texas is one of nearly 20 schools that have offered Preston thus far. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet as of the night of March 17 are the Crimson Tide, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Florida State, Georgia, Miami Hurricanes, Oregon, Texas A&M, USC Trojans, and Arkansas.

Coleman is the main positional coach on Sark’s staff that is going after Preston right now. He needs to stick to Preston like glue if Texas wants a chance at his pledge when it’s all said and done.
