Texas Football: 3 underrated 2022 prospects Sark should try to flip
Underrated 2022 targets for Sark to flip No. 1: Marcus Scott II
More than likely the most realistic prospect on this list for Sark and the Longhorns to flip for their 2022 recruiting class this offseason could be the LSU Tigers three-star 6-foot-2 and 170 pound cornerback commit Marcus Scott II. This College Park (TX) product is one of the more vastly underrated defensive back prospects coming out of high school for this entire recruiting cycle.
This in-state product gave his commitment to head coach Ed Orgeron and the 2019 National Champions LSU back on Jan. 20, 2021. But he picked to take his talents to Baton Rouge to join a reloading LSU squad over offers from just four other schools. Scott II also held offers from the Mizzou Tigers, Houston Cougars, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and UNLV Rebels.
Texas has looked into sending an offer Scott II’s way, and Sark and his staff have kept in contact with the Houston area product. Since Texas looks to try and remain a player in the recruitment of Scott II throughout the offseason, this is a prospect to watch in the coming months. At least sending a scholarship offer to Scott would be a smart move for Sark and the Longhorns.
New defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski has already built up a strong foundation in the secondary in the 2022 class with commitments from prospects like four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau and four-star Aledo safety Bryan Allen Jr. But they could add a solid piece in Scott II.
Scott II ranks as the nation’s No. 422 2022 high school prospect, No. 39 cornerback, and No. 57 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 64 cornerback and No. 91 prospect out of Texas.
