Impending NBA Draft decisions

Similar to the last part of this list, an important part of the next steps for the Longhorns this season will be figuring out what happens with players with looming 2021 NBA Draft decisions. It could be the likes of breakthrough sophomore power forward Kai Jones and freshman power forward Greg Brown that declare for the draft following the rough end to this season.

The real puzzling thought process for a lot of Texas hoops fans in the Big 12 Tournament and NCAA Tournament was what happened to all the playing time for the former elite five-star recruit and hometown product Brown. In the last few games of the season, Brown lost his spot in the starting five and saw his minutes get more than cut in half.

In the last three games of the season, Brown played in 13 minutes, six, and then six, respectively. His playing time really fell off a cliff in the last three games, which likely had something to do with his emotional end to his outing in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Brown was expected to be a one-and-done player this season, and watching his looming draft decision will be intriguing for fans on the Forty Acres.

Moreover, there might be an even more crucial looming draft decision for the former four-star recruit and lengthy 6-foot-11 and 220 pound big man Jones. The 2020-21 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year award recipient was also the most improved player for the Longhorns this season. He could be a potential lottery pick in the 2021 draft if he declares following the end to this season.
