It could be a much different-looking team for the Texas football program in spring ball this year, with newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian taking the reigns. Sark and this new-look coaching staff underwent a good bit of roster attrition, as anticipated, so far this offseason. Texas lost a lot of upperclassmen to the 2021 NFL Draft, a host of other ex-players to the NCAA Transfer Portal.
You could argue that Sark and the Longhorns didn’t lose near as many players as normally expected when an abrupt coaching regime change occurs. Most of the losses that Texas incurred in the transfer portal were filled by way of their 2021 signing class and/or incoming transfer additions that should be immediately eligible.
