A nice addition to start building up the defensive line in the 2022 Texas football recruiting class arrived on the later afternoon of March 23. Texas received their first commitment in nearly a month for their 2022 class, after getting red hot on the recruiting trail early this offseason, by landing the 6-foot-3 and 280 pound three-star North Shore defensive tackle Kristopher Ross.

Landing the commitment from Ross gives the Longhorns both their seventh pledge in the 2022 class and their first that plays along the defensive line. Texas also now has two commits in the 2022 class that play in the front seven, between the Houston, TX, area product Ross and underrated three-star Arlington-Martin inside linebacker Trevell Johnson.

Getting some momentum going back on the defensive side of the ball for newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian and new defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski was key for the 2022 class at this point of the offseason. Sark and the Longhorns were starting to get quiet in terms of additions to the 2022 class as spring ball began earlier this week on the Forty Acres.

Where to go from here for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class?

Texas can now potentially ride this wave of momentum to get another hot streak going on the recruiting trail. They have one of the deeper and more potent classes in the entire country for this cycle at the moment.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 8 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners. The question that Longhorns fans are now waiting to have answered is what comes next for the 2022 class?

Here’s a look at three targets for the Longhorns 2022 class that could potentially be the next commit after Ross.
