Summer visitors to watch No. 2: Tavorus Jones

If there is to be a second running back commit in the Longhorns 2022 class, you might not have to look any further than with the talented 5-foot-10 and 180 pound Burges product Tavorus Jones. This potent product hailing out of El Paso, TX, is one that would also compliment the Longhorns current blue chip running back commit in the 2022 class very well.

The sole running back commit in the Longhorns 2022 class at the moment is the highly coveted four-star Klein Cain product Jaydon Blue. If the Longhorns could get both Jones and Blue in the mix, it would be a huge win for Sark and running backs coach Stan Drayton.

Jones is reportedly (per Horns247, paid content) set to get an official visit scheduled for the summer to Texas before too long. Texas also looks like it could be one of the schools emerging as an early frontrunner in the race to land a commitment from Jones.

Texas has now offered a double-digit number of running backs for this recruiting cycle, but they’ll soon have to choose which to prioritize the most. Jones seems like a good candidate to put at the top of the priority list for this cycle since getting him to campus would already be a step in the right direction in his pursuit.

Now one of 25 schools that have offered Jones, Texas is one of the major players to watch in his recruitment. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet include the Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Michigan Wolverines, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Penn State Nittany Lions, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans.

Moreover, Jones ranks as the nation’s No. 153 2022 high school prospect, No. 13 running back, and No. 26 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 154 high school prospect, No. 12 running back, and No. 25 prospect out of Texas.
