On top of running into a plethora of injury issues over the course of the last two years, the former elite five-star recruit and third-year wide receiver Jordan Whittington is also going to face yet another scheme change. Whittington moved positions during his freshman campaign, by way of the decision-making of former head coach Tom Herman, and now more change is on the way for him.

Whittington had to adapt to a lot of change in multiple respects in his three years on the Forty Acres thus far. And so far, he’s done well in the midst of a ton of chaos both for him and the program as a whole. When healthy, Whittington was an explosive weapon that Texas could use at multiple different points of the field.

And Sark and new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood will be spoiled with the multiplicity and overall explosiveness that they can get out of Whittington starting this year. Whittington’s speed, route running ability, and reliable hands make him a truly special skill position weapon for the Longhorns.

By all accounts, Whittington is performing well in spring drills for the Longhorns. Given his absence at different points in the last two years (offseasons included), getting him in rhythm will be huge. Whittington certainly has the talent to be one of the most productive and efficient receivers for the Longhorns this fall. It’s really just a matter of him staying healthy throughout.
