More than two weeks into spring camp now, new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program are drawing close to the next time that they will take to the field at DKR in front of the Longhorn faithful. On April 24, the spring football game will commence. And for the first time since last November, Texas will be playing in front of fans at DKR.

Sark and the Longhorns look to have made a lot of progress with the current team, and on the recruiting trail, in the more than three months since he was hired. Back on Jan. 2, Sark was initially hired to take over as the Texas head coach in the place of Tom Herman.

Texas still needs to continue to make progress in spring camp amid an offseason of coaching staff turnover and roster attrition. And with a number of absences in spring ball due to various injury issues, Texas is going to have to see some new faces step up while getting first-team reps.

New players to watch in spring for Texas football

No matter what, the Longhorns are going to need a lot of new players to step up in the spotlight on both sides of the ball. A plethora of losses to the NCAA Transfer Portal and the NFL Draft have left the Longhorns thinner at most position groups than they were last year.

Texas has a lot of underdeveloped players on the current roster just waiting to get their chance to make an impact. And for most of them, this fall will be the first time to do that in a legitimate way during their time on the Forty Acres so far.

With that in mind, here’s a look at three underrated players shining in spring camp so far for the Longhorns.
