The most veteran offensive linemen among the former Longhorns available still on the free agent market at this point of the offseason is the towering 6-foot-7 and 320 pound 32-year-old offensive tackle J’Marcus Webb. Given that the last contract that Webb signed was for less than $50K last year, he might be getting close to retirement.

It does feel like the Fort Worth, TX, native Webb is very much in the latter stages of his career. The former seventh round pick of the Chicago Bears in the 2010 NFL Draft has now played in at least two regular season games for six different teams. The last team he played for was the Indianapolis Colts (seeing the field in just two outings) last season.

Webb had two stints with the Colts in the past three years. He’s also played for the Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins, Bears, Seattle Seahawks, and Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders, in his career to date. He was definitely at the most proficient point of his career in the early-to-mid 2010s with both the Bears and Raiders.

Finding himself mostly in offensive line depth roles in the last few years, Webb could find himself having to fight his way onto an NFL roster if there’s another team willing to give him a chance this offseason. The last time that Webb played in more than 600 snaps in one regular season in the NFL was with the Raiders back in 2015. Granted he did get more than 500 snaps with the Dolphins back in 2019.
