Another rather surprising former Longhorn that is still available in free agency at this point of the offseason is the insanely speedy 5-foot-9 and 180 pound 30-year-old wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. As a wideout that still looks to carry Olympic-level speed, it feels like Goodwin is likely to find his next home in the very near future.

A major reason why Goodwin could still be on the free agent market in mid-April is the fact that he sat out of the 2020 season in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic to stay with his family. He was set to play for his third team in his NFL career last year, after getting traded from the San Francisco 49ers to the Philadelphia Eagles almost one year ago to the day.

Goodwin actually wound back up with the 49ers earlier in the offseason, but he was cut from their roster late last month. He has not been signed by any other team yet.

Really the last full season that Goodwin played in the NFL (at least a dozen regular season games) was with the Niners back in 2017. During the 2017 campaign, Goodwin registered a solid 962 receiving yards on 56 catches, with two receiving touchdowns. For his career to date, Goodwin registered 140 catches for more than 2,300 receiving yards and 13 touchdown catches.

The fact that Goodwin still brings elite speed to the table, a solid route running ability, and usually solid hands, should allow him to find a home soon. The former third round pick of the Buffalo Bills in the 2013 NFL Draft is one of the more appealing names still available in free agency.
