Texas Football: 3 players showing needed improvement in spring camp
In less than two weeks, the Texas football program will be able to take to the field at DKR to take part in their spring game in front of the Longhorn faithful. It will be a fun time for Texas fans this offseason to see what progress the new staff has made under the direction of recently hired head coach Steve Sarkisian.
Sark and the Longhorns appear to have made some progress in installing their new schemes on each side of the ball. Granted it’s hard to know what point the new coaching staff is at in terms of getting this team adjusted to their new system so early in the offseason.
We really won’t know what the Longhorns will show us on the gridiron until at least a couple of games into the regular season. In the meantime, the more experienced players on this Longhorns roster have to step up and lead the rest of the group.
Need for improvement and leadership in Texas football spring ball
There will be so much change to get accustomed to this offseason thanks to roster attrition and the coaching staff turnover that the Longhorns will need the familiar faces that do remain with this team to step up in a big way. Leadership among the upperclassmen for the Longhorns needs to come to the forefront this year.
The good news is that, by most indications, a lot of the familiar upperclassmen set to return for the Longhorns this year are showing signs of improvement in spring ball. If Texas sees some breakthroughs among their more experienced players this fall, there’s no telling what this team could do in 2021.
With that in mind, here’s a look at three Longhorns players showing much-needed improvement in spring camp thus far.
