Dallas Cowboys

The incredible group of offensive line talent that the Dallas Cowboys had put together just a few years ago seems like a far sight compared to how they looked in the trenches at times last season. Injuries wound up decimating the Cowboys offense for much of the regular season last year. And the injuries really took hold more so at the quarterback position and along the offensive line than anywhere else.

Injuries and aging projected starters along the offensive line makes the risk of the Cowboys’ offense struggling again in 2021 heightened if they don’t find a way to shore up the depth the rest of the way this offseason. As it stands now, the Cowboys look to have the former LSU Tigers La’el Collins and USC Trojan Tyron Smith as their starters at the two offensive tackle spots this year.

The seven-time Pro Bowler and Pro Football Hall-of-Fame All-2010s Team selection Smith had a great career to date with the Cowboys, but injuries are starting to take a toll on him. He only played in two games for the Cowboys last season. And he hasn’t played in a full regular season slate with the Cowboys since the 2015 campaign.

Meanwhile, Collins is a solid starter for the Cowboys offensive line, but injuries have taken a toll on him too. Collins could still be a staple of the Cowboys offensive line for the significant future, but adding an insurance policy next to him could help.

Former Mississippi State Bulldogs star quarterback Dak Prescott missed most of last season due to injury, and the Cowboys should invest in protecting him this year. Cosmi could be a good option for him either in the first or second round of the 2021 draft.
