It does feel like newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian and the 2022 Texas football recruiting class are just a few weeks away from catching fire on the trail again. Texas caught fire on the recruiting trail for their 2022 and 2023 classes in the first couple of months after the former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator and reigning Broyles Award winner Sark was hired to replace Tom Herman.

There’s still a solid foundation that the Longhorns 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes are built on at this point in time, despite a drought in terms of commitments in the last month and a half. Texas landed multiple blue chip commits for their 2022 and 2023 classes in January, February, and early March. The same might be just around the corner in late April and all throughout May.

Granted, Sark and the Longhorns must have their next top targets prioritized as spring ball is about to wrap up and summer workouts will soon begin. Texas will also soon see the resumption of official visits around the college football recruiting landscape come June 1.

One particular recent target to the party for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail emerged this week. Four-star Buford 6-foot and 175 pound athlete/wide receiver Isaiah Bond just got his Texas scholarship offer back on April 12. And he has an official visit scheduled with Texas for June 25.

It seems like the two new schools to the party in terms of the pursuit of a commitment of the Georgia native Bond are the Longhorns and Florida Gators. Florida sent an offer to Bond on April 9, and they have an official visit scheduled for June 4.

Texas seems to be making a lot of progress in the recruitment of Bond right away. The Longhorns and Gators are now two of two dozen schools on Bond’s ever-growing offer sheet. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet include the Miami Hurricanes, Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Pitt Panthers, Wisconsin Badgers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, UCF Knights, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Washington State Cougars.

He also has reported scout looks from the likes of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and rival Texas A&M Aggies.

Moreover, Bond ranks as the nation’s No. 570 2022 high school prospect, No. 50 athlete, and No. 57 prospect out of Georgia (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 237 high school prospect, No. 14 athlete, and No. 23 prospect out of Georgia.

Bond could be a game-changer as an underrated commitment if the Longhorns could land him in their 2022 class. And they’re already set to get him to the Forty Acres for a visit this summer, after the resumption of official visit season this offseason.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 9 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas holds commitments from seven prospects in their 2022 class, with the highest-rated being the elite five-star Junipero Serra pro-style quarterback Maalik Murphy.
